Hey Izzy- the Asia Pacific Triennial opening in Brisbane this week-end was amazing. Fun as always, with ground breaking art from around our region. The icing on the cake is always meeting the artists. It was fabulous to see old friends too. Brisbane throws a good party.
In Brisbane, I interviewd Vernon Ah Kee for a new series I am writing called Eating with Artists: he was lovely to talk with and wow, his exhibition at the State Library is gob smacking, thought provoking, and very moving. Gotta make a trip up, Izzy. Also for A Magazine, I am writing recipes for humble ingredients: first off the rank is semolina. Check it out, and make some upma! http://www.amagazine.com.au/eat/seeking-semolina
Meanwhile, Christmas is around the corner and the house is ready. I cannot wait!
love your photos! we have just settled into our apartment swap/exchange inLondon at the Barbican ArtCenter’s Cromwell Tower -23rdfloor – so sweeping panoramic views of London, the owner who is in our flat in Sydney is the former Director of the ICA in London, small world! We will be based here for a month, except for a week withAlice’s new in laws in Devon, where we have rented a little cottage in the seaside village of Topsham! it’s bloody cold at the moment , but we have plenty of warm layers to compensate!I assume it’s heating up on your end! I think we are going to “the Jugged Hare” for dinner to have either hare or fowl, real earthy fare befitting a country estate! Lke the sound of your semolina, though!I look forward to sharing many meals with you and Michael in the New year! cheers! love,
Wendy, John and Eliza, who loves being with her big sisters and their little girls!
